Setup ZTE F609 V3 for OpenWrt

Tutorial dibawah ini juga bisa diterapkan pada seri lama dari perangkat ZTE F609 V3

Bagi pengguna yang pernah mengalami kasus router ZTE F609 V3 yang tidak memiliki mode Bridge Connection, hal itu dikarenakan versi software tidak mengaktifkan mode Bridge Connection alias dikunci dari pabriknya.

Mode Bridge Connection sendiri banyak digunakan untuk mempermudah koneksi ke router, sehingga tidak diperlukan lagi melakukan pengaturan di sisi client. Karena intinya bridge mode ini hanya untuk melanjutkan koneksi, juga bisa memperkuat koneksi WiFi dari sisi router. Konfigurasi IP Address dan DHCP server dilakukan secara terpusat pada router.

Untuk mengakalinya, jika ZTE F609 V3 yang Anda gunakan tidak memiliki mode Bridge Connection, Anda bisa menggunakan User Configuration Management yang tersedia di blog ini untuk mengaktifkan mode Bridge Connection.

Unduh File Konfigurasi

• Unduh file konfigurasi ini untuk mengaktifkan Bridge Connection tanpa VLAN.

• Unduh file konfigurasi ini untuk mengaktifkan Bridge Connection dengan tambahan VLAN. Terdiri dari VLAN ID 1 sampai 5. Lihat VLAN ID dan nilainya dibawah ini:

  bridge-vlan-1 => VLAN ID = 1
  bridge-vlan-2 => VLAN ID = 2
  bridge-vlan-3 => VLAN ID = 3
  bridge-vlan-4 => VLAN ID = 4
  bridge-vlan-5 => VLAN ID = 5
  

• Lihat screenshot contoh dibawah ini

  

  Catatan: Konfigurasi diatas hanya teruji di ZTE F609 V3, kalau versi lamanya sih kurang tau.

Langkah Instalasi

• Login ke modem sebagai admin dengan mengakses alamat http://192.168.1.1 (alamat IP bawaan modem ZTE F609 V3).

  Login info :

  Username : admin
  Password : Telkomdso123
  

  Jika Username dan Password diatas tidak bisa, cobalah info login dibawah ini satu per satu:

  Catatan: Cobanya satu per satu ya, gantian.

• Jika sudah berhasil login, selanjutnya masuk ke menu Administration >> System Management >> User Configuration Management untuk mengunggah dan restore pengaturan User Management yang telah diunduh di atas.

  Setelah masuk ke modem, kemudian klik tombol Restore Configuration. Modem akan restart dalam beberapa saat.

  

• Kemudian join wifi dari router, lalu masuk kembali ke IP router dengan detail dibawah ini:

  IP Address   : 192.168.1.1
  SSID         : hotspot.nuslab.com
  Username     : admin
  Password     : Telkomdso123
  

• Masuk ke menu Network >> WAN Configuration. Akan ada pengaturan Connection Name dengan nama: bridge only atau bridge-vlan-1 hingga bridge-vlan-5 dengan Type: Bridge Connection yang dinonaktifkan yang dibuat sebelumnya melalui User Configuration Management di atas.

  

• Agar port LAN dan WiFi dapat digunakan sebagai mode Bridge, masuk ke menu Network >> WAN >> Port Binding untuk mengaktifkan port yang ingin di-Bridge. Sampai langkah ini telah selesai dan router sudah dapat digunakan untuk mode Bridge Connection.

  

  Catatan: Saya menggunakan contoh pengaturan di atas karena LAN 3 dan 4 hanya untuk koneksi output.

Pengaturan Tambahan Untuk OpenWrt

• Login ke WebUI ZTE, lalu masuk ke LAN >> DHCP Server.

• Atur LAN IP Address, DNS Server1 IP Address, dan Default Gateway dengan IP Address OpenWrt. Lalu ubah angka setelah titik terakhir dengan angka 20 atau yang lainnya. Pengaturan ini dipakai agar WebUI router dapat di akses melalui jaringan OpenWrt.

  Contoh: Jika IP OpenWrt 192.168.1.1, maka saya atur LAN IP Address dengan pengaturan 192.168.1.20

  

• Hilangkan centang pada Enable DHCP Server.

  

• Atur DHCP Start IP Address.

  

• Klik tombol Submit.

Konfigurasi Tambahan untuk VLAN ID pada OpenWrt

• Unduh konfigurasi ini untuk menjadikan port LAN 1 pada router sebagai input koneksi modem, dan port LAN 2 sebagai output ke OpenWrt. Ikuti langkah import yang sudah dijelaskan diatas untuk menggunakan konfigurasi ini pada router.

  Config Information

  IP Address   : 192.168.1.10
  SSID         : ZTE_2.4G_xxxxx
  Username     : admin

  LAN 1        : Modem Connection

also work for older series too with same hardware and firmware version

For those who have experienced the ZTE F609 modem case that does not have a Bridge Connection mode, it is because the software version does not activate the Bridge Connection mode alias it is locked or locked from there.

Bridge mode itself is widely used to facilitate connection to the router so that no more setup / settings are needed on the client side. Because the point is that bridge mode is only to continue the connection, it can also strengthen the WiFi connection from the router side. Configuring the IP Address and DHCP server is done centrally on the router.

To outsmart if the F609 modem you are using doesn’t have Bridge Connection mode , you can use itUser Configuration Management is available on this blog to activate Bridge Connection mode.

Download configuration file

• This file configuration 1 contains only bridge connection mode without VLAN.

• This file configuration 2, contains the bridge connection mode with VLANs. Consists of VLAN IDs 1 to 5. You can see the value or value of the VLAN below:

  bridge-vlan-1 => VLAN ID = 1
  bridge-vlan-2 => VLAN ID = 2
  bridge-vlan-3 => VLAN ID = 3
  bridge-vlan-4 => VLAN ID = 4
  bridge-vlan-5 => VLAN ID = 5
  

• The User Configuration files above is for version 3 (Hardware Version: V5.3).

  

  Note: Configs above only tested on ZTE F609 V3 only, idk with older devices.

Installation Steps

• Log in to the modem as admin by accessing the address http://192.168.1.1 (ZTE F609 modem default address). Default login info :

  Username : admin
  Password : Telkomdso123
  

  If Username and Password above does not work, try login details below one by one :

    Username : admin

  Note: Please try it one by one

• If you have successfully logged in, then enter the menu Administration >> System Management >> User Configuration Management to upload and restore the User Management settings that were downloaded above. After entering the modem, then click the Restore Configuration button. The modem will restart in a few moments.

  

• Then log back into the modem.

  For the IP Address, Username and Password for the configuration file above:

  IP Address   : 192.168.1.1
  SSID         : hotspot.nuslab.com
  Username     : admin
  Password     : Telkomdso123
  

• Enter the menu Network >> WAN Configuration. There will be a Connection Name setting with the name: bridge only or bridge-vlan-1 to bridge-vlan-5 with the Type: Bridge Connection that was disabled which was made previously through the User Configuration Management above.

  

• So that the LAN and WiFi ports can be used as Bridge mode, enter the menu Network >> WAN >> Port Binding to activate the port you want to bridge. Until this step has been completed and the modem can be used for Bridge Connection mode .

  

  Note : I use above setting sample because LAN 3, 4 for output connection only

Additional Settings for OpenWrt

• Go to LAN >> DHCP Server

• Set LAN IP Address, DNS Server1 IP Address, and Default Gateway with your OpenWrt WebUi IP Address, and change the numbers after last dot with 20 or something else. this setting will allow you to access router WebUi under OpenWrt connection. For an example : my OpenWrt router IP is 192.168.1.1, then i set the LAN IP Address with 192.168.1.20

  

• Then uncheck the Enable DHCP Server

  

• Set DHCP Start IP Address

  

• The click Submit button

Miscellaneous Config for VLAN ID on OpenWrt

• Download this configuration to make your router LAN 1 port for input connection (modem), and LAN 2 as connection port to OpenWrt (output). Follow import instructions above to apply this config to your router.
